Start off by choosing your style, and it's not just the style of music you're picking, but how your avatar is going to look:

You will click/tap or press space to make your avatar jump, as you go from one floor to another, and you need to avoid hitting into the spikes and other dangers and traps that are going to be marked, as well as falling into the pits. Instead, collect gold coins with musical notes on them to get points, and pick up power-ups that help you, such as extra lives, or boosts that help you climb multiple floors at once.
