If you find coins through the streets, get them. You can then use them at the gas station to refill your fuel. Press space after landing on the gas station mark to buy it.
Obviously, avoid crashing into other cars in traffic. If it happens too much, you lose. Find more coins, but if you can find clients, take them around. Use the mini-map to get from their pick-up spot to their destination.
